Strangely apposite, after hearing today that forty people have drowned in the last few days in France - trying to cool down in the extreme heat. This is so atmospheric it made me shiver. Maybe a better way to cool down than swimming...
People have been warned along our California coast not to climb on the rocks at the edge of the water when sleeper waves are occurring. They still do it and tragically are swept out to sea and drown.
That is one chilling story! I have a huge phobia about big water--high surf, fast-moving rivers, that sort of thing--so this really gets me. And yes, that woman and child were very lucky.
I’m always seeing people on the rocks while waves wash in, and I can’t understand why they put themselves in such danger. Thanks for reading again. It’s always great to find your comments.
You really captured this character, Lee. Half the market price should beg the question, Why? Too good to be true. The choir kept after him. Great ending. My house is 4,000 ft above sea level in the Chihuahua desert. I think I'm safe from the choir.😁

I'd never heard of a sleeper wave until today. I thought you were just being poetic!
It's a good name for that rogue wave, the one that's bigger than all the others.
I really enjoyed this story. Very creepy and a page turner.
Hi Natalie! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful July Fourth celebration.

Geeeeeez! Great story.
Thank you. You bring out the creep factor in me!

What a superb chiller! I think I would have run screaming from that uber creepy house.
Me too! That dirge alone would put jets under my tennis shoes. Thanks for reading. It’s good to know I have eyes on the stories I write.
