Today’s First Wednesday post is here and not there. Meaning I’m so fed up with WordPress that I’m leaving a link on my once upon a time favorite website to this new place. I hope the people who follow me follow me over here. Guess I’ll find out.
The awesome co-hosts for the November 1 posting of the IWSG are PJ Colando, Jean Davis, Lisa Buie Collard, and Diedre Knight!
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!
November is National Novel Writing Month. Have you ever participated? If not, why not?
Quick answer: Nope. The “why not” part is trickier to answer, but I guess the most important reason for my non-participation is that I can’t write like that. Maybe more to the point…I don’t enjoy writing the way NaNo writers do. They hurry and create a rough draft, not worrying about any details that might slow them down. And when they finish, they have story—something to edit.
I think it’s great that so many take part in this competition, and I applaud them. In the meantime, I slowly hunt and peck my through manuscripts.
I’m in the publication pipeline again, so I’m in need of help to get the word out. If you can lend a hand with a post or review or whatever, let me know in your comment or send me an email (cleemckenzieATgmailDOTcom).
Here’s the blurb: The desert town of Rattlesnake isn’t a destination. It’s a last resort. Seventeen-year-old Jonah Guthrie’s aunt sold their home in New England and fled to this place to escape the humiliation of his dad’s indictment for embezzlement and subsequent disappearance.
While their late uncle left them a house and a silver mine, the house is a shambles and the mine is defunct. They’re almost out of money, so they have no choice but to stay in Rattlesnake. And then Jonah discovers they’ve inherited something else. Her name is Catherine, and she’s been dead for over a hundred year. Now, she needs his help.

I'm going to have to write another article about the supernatural features of today's books. There are several scheduled for publication, and I know this one will be great!
When I first started taking part in NaNoWriMo I used to strive for the 50k word count. But I’m a turtle writer and sometimes my inner editor is hard to shut off. Now, I personally set my own more manageable, word count goal during NaNoWriMo.
